My name is Christina Warfel and I work as Community Director for PAX in the Central Pennsylvania area. PAX -Program of Academic Exchange fosters the positive development of the world's young people and support international peace, friendship and cross-cultural understanding.
PAX is a grantee of a Department of State sponsored exchange program. Every year, we place these deserving students with host families and enroll them in local high schools all across the country where they become beloved family members and assets to their schools and communities. From Day 1, they will be wonderful additions to their host families and host community. FLEX students share their cultures with their American families and friends and generate enduring ties and lifelong friendships. It is a rewarding two-way street for all involved!

This would be a great opportunity both to share international cultures without leaving home while simultaneously having strong impacts on the lives of young leaders from around the world!
These students will come with full medical insurance and a monthly stipend to cover their personal expenses. FLEX finalists differ from regular exchange students because they are committed to teaching their American community about their culture through presentations, volunteerism and active participation in their host families lives. All the family needs is to provide a bed (rooms can be shared with host siblings), meals at home, and a quiet place to study. Families come in all shapes and sizes, with or without children. Young couples, single parents and retirees are all welcome to apply.
I currently have three teenagers from Russia and the Ukraine who are eagerly waiting for a host family so that they may get the opportunity to experience this once in a lifetime honor. Unfortunately the deadline for finding a host family for them is July 15th.
