Update Your Browser

February 10, 2010 | Newsroom | Author: Neil Young

While this notice is from Google, it affects some of the pages we provide and serves as a reminder to make sure you have the safest and up to date browser.

G-mail is shortly going to make some changes. If you are using an older browser, it does not matter if it is IE, Opera, Safari, Firefox or other, you need to update. If you do not, you will loose some functions and may not be able to use. This is done for security of the Internet and is a smart move.

If you do not know what browser version you are using, you will need to search for a button that says about. This is how you see what version of any software is. The latest version of IE is 8. Under 8, you click on the help icon and choose About Internet Explorer. I do not remember in older versions.

In Firefox, go to help, then About Mozilla Firefox. Also just above About is check for update. You should use this.

Under Google Chrome browser, which is a nice clean browser, go to end of address bar and left click on Customize and control icon and choose About Google Chrome.

Under the Windows version of Safari, on right at end of address line, there is a gear icon, left click on this and choose About Safari

To learn what is the latest version of your browser, look for update or Google what is the latest version of (browser name) and hit enter.

We plan to begin phasing out support of these older browsers on the Google Docs suite and the Google Sites editor on March 1, 2010. After that point, certain functionality within these applications may have higher latency and may not work correctly in these older browsers. Later in 2010, we will start to phase out support for these browsers for Google Mail and Google Calendar.

Google Apps will continue to support Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Firefox 3.0 and above, Google Chrome 4.0 and above, and Safari 3.0 and above.
