What’s Going On in PA Key Club?
The Pennsylvania District of Key Club’s 2012-2013 year started at this year’s District Convention/Leadership Conference on March 16-18, 2012. Key Club members and officers from all around Pennsylvania gathered in State College to develop and exchange ideas about service and leadership through a diverse selection of activities, seminars, and sessions.

The Gift of Membership
The American Heritage Dictionary defines the word “gift” as “something that is bestowed voluntarily and without compensation.” What a perfect fit for Kiwanis.

Kiwanis Club Member & Volunteer Accident Plan
In December all clubs were sent the annual enrollment form for the Kiwanis Club Member & Volunteer Accident Plan. This is optional insurance coverage that clubs may purchase. It provides medical expense and accidental death and dismemberment benefits for members and volunteers who are injured while participating in club-sponsored events.

In the current season, many of us are considering what to give a friend or loved one in the way of a gift that will have a lasting impression or impact that will be memorable. Halloween
Halloween tops my list of least favorite celebrations. I can’t fault moms and dads who spend countless hours preparing costumes for their little ones. Elementary age kids have a great time filling their Trick or Treat bags with candy – with most of their bounty sitting around getting stale and waiting for spring to roll around before mom throws it all out.

Eliminate Project Update
The Pennsylvania District has raised more than $100,000 since the campaign started. That means, We have saved over 55,000 babies and mothers from dying of tetanus.

Visiting Hours
Kiwanians love to visit, as well as have visitors at their meetings.

Bobbing for Members
One of the traditions of Halloween is the “bobbing for apples,” which dates back to 43 A.D., when two Roman Festivals were combined with the traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain.
