Posted March 6, 2013 Kiwanis Club of New Sewickley Township and Big Knob Grange Members sponsored event with Beaver Area Key Club Members. Location: Big Knob Grange/Fair Grounds, New Sewickley Township, Rochester, PA 15074. Date: Saturday March 23, 2013. Time: 11:00 A.M. Ages: Children between 2-10 years of age. Plastic eggs are filled with candy and some with a prize coupon, to be redeemed on that day. Children are put into groups according to age. Eggs are hidden in straw, at different sheltered sites. The children have a set time to hunt through the straw for the colored eggs. When all the eggs have been gathered, the first two groups move indoors. Members restock the straw with eggs for the next two groups. At the same time, the first group of children, are opening their eggs looking for a coupon for toys and books. A buffett style, light lunch is provided. Included are boiled hotdogs with toppings, many varieties of homemade cookies & treats, several brands of vegetable chips, pretzels, cold punch or hot coffee, for all in attendance. The Easter Bunny will be seated on the stage, with a spring theme back ground, for photo's with children. We shoot and print the photos, for a keep sake, from our Kiwanis Club. "Terrific Kids" stickers placed on the child or photo at that time. Over one hundred twenty-five children attend each year, plus adults, estimated two hundred in attendance. Great Service Project, "Young Children Priorty One","Youth Services", "Read Around the World" project and membership drive. Some of the children, choose to help the enviroment by using the recycling box. All plastic is disinfected before it's next use. Many levels of education is provided through Kiwanis Community Service Projects. The greatest sound is children laughing, giggling having a good time! Posted: March 6, 2013
